Eastern Foreshore Heritage Walk

(Between Thomas Street & Tea Tree Lane)

Starting at the Mersey Ferry pontoon in East Devonport this walk will introduce you to many interesting historical facts about Devonport. At low tide you can see the remains of the dredge G.Ward Cole that was wrecked at Shipwreck Beach on October 29, 1930 when stormy seas caused its mooring chains to break.

Shipwreck Beach is a great place for viewing ships coming in and out of the Mersey River. Learn about the heritage of the area by checking out the interpretive historical markers at the Thomas Street end of the walk.
Continuing on, the track follows the beach where you will have magnificent views of Bass Strait.

This walk is approximately 2.8km and at a casual pace will take about 1 hour (one way).
